Features Of A Pa Site

This week I made a google drawing of the features of a pa site I put some fun facts about pa in as well as a couple of parts of the pa. Here is my work.

Shantytown

On Monday we went to Shantytown. When we got there Mrs Barbour talked to us about the exits and where we were allowed. Then we got into lines and we went into Shantytown. The lady said when we walked in we moved 150 years back in time. When we got inside we went into the place with lots of green stone and fossils. Then we got into an oval and did our mihis. 

After our mihi we talked about different facts about green stone. Then we went outside and looked around shantytown and we had to point out trees and plants that Maoris used back in the days. 

Then we had a little bit to eat. When we got inside the classroom we talked a little bit about Thomas Brunner and Kehu. Then the Tuakana went outside and read a story about Kehu and Thomas Brunner. I learnt a lot from this story. After we read the story we went up into the bush. When we got up to the top, Mrs Barbour gave us instructions about where we were allowed and then we had to go off in our groups to find a place to build our hut. 

Where Me, Royal, Mia and Rodeshar found our place we started collecting lots of wood. When we got enough wood we started making our hut. In the end we ended up with 4 bedrooms and a lookout. The look out was so we could see if there were any criminals coming. We made the huts because that`s what Kehu, Thomas Brunner and Pikawhati had to do when they were walking down the South Island. Every time they stopped that had to build a hut and sleep in it for the night!

When we were all done we walked back down the track and we went back to the classroom. Then we had lunch. At lunch time we all decided to go to the movie theater and we watched a hologram. It was a very cool movie.  

After lunch we went into the classroom and then she gave most of us a role I can not remember who I was but I was a mother of 6 kids! Then after we talked about that for a little bit we went up the manuka track to the church service. We did a Karakia the lords prayer and Royal read the Christmas story that I wrote. 

After that we went back to the classroom and then we said a big thank you to Mrs Mears and Mrs Barbour. 

The bit that I enjoyed the most was going up the track to the huts. I learnt about Thomas and Kehu and Pikawhati. I also learnt that in 1847 there was 4 church services on Christmas day!! That is a lot. 

I really enjoyed shantytown and I can not wait to go there next year!

Prime VS Composite Numbers

This week we have been learning about Prime and Composite Numbers. We had to make a DLO about Prime and Composite Numbers. Here is mine.

Measurement

This week we have been learning about the different units of measurement. We have been told to make a DLO of 1 unit of measurement and I chose Length. Here is my DLO about length!

Goals

This term we have to set goals to achieve over the time of this term.

My maths goal is to be able to add hard decimal equations. To achieve this I will have to practice at home and on maths buddy. 

In Literacy I would like to work on making my writing into paragraphs. I will do this by practicing writing everyday.  

Week 1 and 2 Reflection

This week we have been working on the myth Maui and The Sun. It is really fun. I have to make I machine that Maui could use to slow the sun. Maybe next time I could use a more exiting tool. Here is my work.

Person Wanted

Today we did a poster where we had to advertise who wanted to slow the sun instead of Maui! I would really love to do this! But I dont think I have enough skills yet! Here is my Mahi!

My Awesome Writing

In The past 3 weeks or so, I have been working on my awesome writing. The game of awesome is a game and at the end you get 3 cards and you have to write about whatever the cards say. I played 2 games here are my 2 stories.

Hanmer Slideshow

We had to make a slideshow about camp and about 5 activities that we did on camp. I did my 5 favorite. Here is my slide. 

Tuesday Afternoon Camp

On Tuesday we went to the maze because the bike riding was cancelled. The maze was scary because the walls looked like they were going to fall down, and there was one that water was falling and you had to go at the right time otherwise the water would spill on you. 

After the maze we went for a walk up conical hill and it was really fun because me Cassidy and Catelin ran all the way down!

After the walk we went to the lollie shop and I got loads of lollies. Then we went to do this town thing where there were questions about things around the town and we had to find the answer.

After that we went rock climbing but I didn't get very far because I was scared that I would fall.

After that we went on an awesome bike ride it was suppose to take 2 and a half hours but it only took us 45 mins!! 

Then we went to the pools again I loved camp!!!

Monday Afternoon Camp

On Monday we went on camp to Hanmer Springs it was so fun! On Monday afternoon we did orienteering and we had to walk around in the forest and find all of the numbers. After that we went to the Hot Pools and we went on the hydro-slides it was Awesome!! 

After the hot pools we went to the kitchen to have dinner and it was really yum we had spaghetti with mince and cheese. Then we went into our rooms and hung out until 8:30 and then we had supper. 

Then we went and cleaned our teeth and we to bed we stayed up for ages until like 1:30!! That day was awesome.

Controlling Cats

Week 2 Reflection

Book Spine Poetry

This week we are doing book spine poetry and it is so easy! All you have to do is pick 4-5 books and put them into a poem it doesn't have to make complete sense you just have to be able to understand it. Here are mine!

A limerick is a sort of poem that we have been learning about. We had to read what a limerick was and then write 3 limericks and put them in a google drawing. Pepa Kuti Toka

Last Week we had to do a paper scissors rock DLO and we had to do paper scissors rock in our groups of 3 30 times and each one of us were different. Like if we did paper scissors rock and Everyone did the same thing Rodeshar would get the point if we all did different thing then Royal would get the point, if 2 of us did the same thing and one of us did something different I would get the point. As you can see I won!

Shape Poem

This Week I have done a Shape poem. First I had to do 5 different Shape Poems in my writing book, and then I had to pick my favorite one to put on a A4 Peice  of paper and I picked my dog one. A shape poem is a poem that you draw anything and then you write a poem about the thing that you drew. Here is a picture of my Shape Poem!

Bake Something and give it to someone Main Star

This Term Another One of my Main Stars was to bake something and give it to someone. I decided to bake cookies for my neighbor because she is quite old and she doesn't get much gifts and she is really nice. Here is the step by step process of me baking the cookies!

I didn`t get a photo of me putting the cookies in the oven but here is me waiting for them to cook.

How To Be A Good Friend Main Star
