Literacy/Topic Reflection T3W9

Reading- This week for reading we got to choose our DLO because it is the end of the term. We just had to do a thing that asked us questions about what literacy elements are. Here is me and Ruby's DLO that we made up. 


Writing- This week for writing we have been learning about mummies and how they are wrapped and embalmed. Me and Kyra worked together and we had to read something about how to wrap and embalm mummies. This is what we came up with.

Literacy/Topic- This week for literacy we are doing explorer things again and we had to pick a famous explorer and answer 3 questions about that explorer. I picked Vasco Nunez de Balboa and here is my learning. 

Numeracy Reflection T3W9

Numeracy- This week for numeracy we have been carrying on with our area and perimeter. I like working with my group and I think we work well together.  Here is my learning.

Kapa Haka Reflection

We went to The Kapa Haka Festival and it was so fun. We got to go to the Regent Theater at 8:00am and we watched the Powhiri. Then we watched all of the Kapa Haka and we didn't perform untill 2:00. When it was 1:30 we went out to the back of the Theater and got changed into our Kapa Haka uniforms. When we were all changed we had to wait for like 20 Minutes until we got on stage. After the performace I went home and found out that in one of our songs we came first!! I was so exited! Here are the videos of our performance!

Olympic Refugee Main Stars

After fleeing his home to avoid being forced to become a child soldier, South Sudanese runner wants to use his platform to help other refugees. He was 13 when he left him home in South Sudan to avoid being kidnapped by rebels. 15 years later he was competing in the 2016 Rio Olympics in the 400m. When he was 11 he lost his father who was a soldier. His dream was to get to an olympics and get good results and to help people.

Dear Mrs O` Sullivan

I would love to nominate this person for take the cake because when I was doing my speech Kaede was supposed to be my assistant but she was sick so this person helped me out and did the bit that Kaede was meant to do.

She also said well done to me after my speech and when I was doing my speech she passed me the ball. Overall she is really nice and kind!

That is why I would like to nominate Reagan Boniface!

Big Day Out

On Thursday we went on the Big Day Out and we went to the Movies, Recreation Center and The Swimming pool.

First we went to the Movies and we watched Pete's Dragon. The people that did their homework for more then 5 weeks this term got to have popcorn during the movie and they got to share it with a buddy. The movie was quite sad but it had a happy ending. At the end of the movie the people that did their homework got to have an ice cream.  

Second we went to the Recreation Center and played lots of little mini games, they were Basketball, Cricket, Soccer, and Badminton. My favorite one was basketball because I play basketball and I am good at shooting. 

Lastly we went to the swimming pool and the ones that did all of their homework got to go on the hydro slide first and since I did my homework I got to. Me and Kaede also started a game in the pool and it was girls vs boys in swimming pool touch. 

I loved the big day out and I can't wait until next years one.

Ict/Technology- This week for writing we had to pick a topic of a website and then research that topic and I chose Mount Fuji and learnt 10 new facts about it. I learnt how to Research lots of information .Here is my drawing. Sorry the links don't work because I embedded it.  

Reading- This week for reading we have done a word cloud and a explanation burger. I have completed both of them and I learnt lots about how to actually explain things properly. Here they are.

Literacy Reflection W7T3

Reading- This week for reading I had to read a book called A Wife For Te Ra and then I had to put all the information that I gathered into a explanation burger. I also did the rest of my household explanation and I learnt how to make my sentences more detailed.   Here is my Burger!

Topic Reflection T3W7

Topic- This week for topic we had to write a summery about why people explore. We had to be in groups and I was in a group with Kaede and Katelin. We have been working hard on our summery about explores so here it is.

It is obvious that some people explore for the money. You can become rich because people will pay you to explore lots of different things. They become rich because they find lots of great things when they explore like gold and silver so that makes them money.

Also for fame, fame is when you are famous. Some people are famous explorers we don’t know any famous explorers but we think people are famous because when they travel the world and explore. Some people are famous because when they are exploring they find really valuable things like gold and silver and lots of money and that is how they get rich and famous.

When they went exploring on ships some ships never returned and that's why some people stopped exploring on ships they now go exploring in cars and busses. It is told that one of the ships that went over sunk or got lost.

Lots of Spain people explore and from exploring they have made the country Spain very rich with gold and silver. Now Spain is a very lucky country and very rich; Due to people being great at exploring in Spain

Why I love this author: I like this author because he is amazing at making his books interesting and at the same time very factual. I love the book Ponokio and Best Mate. I love best mate because it is about a dog and I love dogs and it is quite sad but awesome. I love Michael Morpourgo books.

Author: Jaquline Wilson
What I love about this author: She writes books that are really funny and she also makes it feel like you are in the book and you are actual living the moment. My favorite book is Lily Alone and she writes it. Jaquline is an amazing author and I wish to grow up and write books just like her. Sometimes her books are sad like Lily Alone but at least it has a great ending. I really like 4 Children and It as well. I love the Jaquline Wilson.

Topic Reflection W6T3

Topic- This week for topic we have been learning about Explorers and why they explore. We had to figure out 5 reasons why people explore in partners here is mine!

Reason 1: Because Maybe they want to explore the world and find out interesting things about different places.

Reason 2: They would probably want to find out about new cultures and things that don’t happen in your country.

Reason 3: Because they want to see different animals and explore what animals eat and what their prey is.

Reason 4: Because they might want to find out about insects and things that live in the woods         

Reason 5: They might want to just have fun and explore everything and find out interesting things!            

                                             

Numeracy Reflection W6T3

Games- We didn't get a DLO this week so I deiced to play 2 games that were on my planning and I also screen castified myself playing them so their was proof that I did it. These game were at the exactly at my level. I played Equivalent Fractions,Factions Splat and Matching. I also recapped a couple of things that we have been learning about and made a drawing on what I learnt because we didn't get a DLO this week. 


We also had to work out some fraction problems. I learnt how to dived the whole number by the denominator. We also had to screencastify ourselves so we can teach others how to do it. We only had to screencasifiy one of them though and I deiced to screen cast the harder one.

Literacy/Reading Reflection W6T3

Writing- This week for writing we had to choose something in your house and find out how it works I chose the rubbish bin pedal. I learnt that their is little metal piece under your bin pedal that makes the bin open. We also read a book called wild life and we had to make a drawing about the literacy elements of the story eg. The Setting, Theme etc. We also had to answer the question How does knowing the literacy elements help me with my reading? Here is my piece of writing! It isn't done though.

How The Rubbish Bin Pedal Works??

A rubbish bin a is something that is for putting your rubbish in. It can be made out of some type of strong metal or black hard plastic, it can be any color you want it to be. It has a lid that goes up and down and it also has a liner that you pull up to clean it out. The shape of the bin is like a oval. They could be any size.
